New owners Diversified Communications look to future growth

The UK and Ireland’s leading event for the domestic tourism and venues industry has announced the appointment of Simon Greenbury as Event Director for Best of Britain & Ireland 2015, taking place in Hall 8 at the NEC, 11- 12 March –

Simon has been part of the show’s marketing and PR team for the past sixteen months. His previous experience in the travel, leisure and exhibitions industry has included working for Reed Travel Exhibitions on World Travel Market, International Luxury Travel Show and their meeting shows EIBTM (Barcelona), GIBTM (Abu Dhabi) and CIBTM (Beijing). He also worked on Boat & Caravan Show, Pharmacy Live and DIY & Garden Show as well as for the international meetings association MPI.

Working closely with the already established and experienced Best of Britain & Ireland sales, operations and marketing team, Simon’s main role will be to develop and grow the show working with key domestic tourism and venues stakeholders, associations, exhibitors and media partners.

Commenting on the appointment Mark Griffin, Diversified Communications’ Group Director said: “We are delighted that Simon, with his years of experience and knowledge with the travel, meetings, leisure and exhibitions sectors, will be the face and voice of the show going forward. Already attracting more destinations, attractions and venues than any other industry show, the event, with the experience of Diversified Communications who organise 17 national and international exhibitions, is set for a bright long term future.”

On his new appointment Simon said: “I am extremely excited and passionate about this new role. This is a great opportunity to work with the industry in developing the major domestic tourism and venues exhibition dedicated exclusively to UK and Ireland.”

The event brings together 300+ exhibitors – representing hotels, destinations, venues, attractions, industry associations and suppliers – together with 3,000 targeted decision makers responsible for organising holidays, trips, breaks, meetings and events for both domestic and international tourists and delegates in the UK.

With the show already over 70% sold, exhibitors committed to the show include Visit England, Visit Scotland, Visit Wales and Tourism Ireland.
