Past President of the Global Speakers Federation, Alan Stevens presents his views on the skills needed for remote event speaking.

Speaking remotely has nothing to do with running a webinar. It has everything to do with a speaker being able to delight delegates that he/she can see and those delegates that cannot be seen. These are your remote participants.

The remote event speaker may be at live at an event or he/she could be coming in from a distance via technology from their office/home.  But whatever the situation the remote event speaker is well aware of the requirements of the two sets of delegates and ensures that any activities can be translated for all delegates to be able to participate.

The video shown here is around 25 minutes long and provides some insights into the skills needed for remote speaking. It was recorded at Event Camp Middle East which was co-located at  one of the Reed Travel Exhibitions, GIBTM in March 2014.
